Family vacation in Seacrest, FL

Three years ago my nephews had asked us to take them to the beach, and we knew someone with a house in Matagorda, TX so we went there. If you remember from that blog post, we pulled up to the beach and Kyler and Ethan said "umm...this is the beach?! The water is brown and the sand is like mud!" Well yes...we are still in Texas, that's as good as it gets.

So we've been meaning to make it up to them for quite sometime now, so we decided to book a family vacation to Seacrest, Florida, after my sister and brother-in-law spent the previous summer there with some friends.

We booked a house that was so beautiful! It had 4 master bedrooms, all with king size beds and en-suite bathrooms. There was another room off the game room that had a few beds in it, as well as a full bath off the game room. The house is 3,200 square feet, and had 7 balconies!
Here are some pictures:

Stacey and Jason had the only master downstairs:

Sam and Jana (my brother-in-law, Jason's parents, joined us) had the 1st master you come to on the 2nd floor:

Then you arrive in the game room:

Mandy, Ronnie, Kyler and Ethan had the room and bathroom off the game room:

Then the last master on this floor, was mine and Chance's:

My parents had the 3rd floor to themselves:

But let me rewind, because there were plenty of memories made before we even reached the house.
We had decided to all drive the 12 hours from Dallas to Seacrest.
My parents, brother Nate, Chance and I rode in 1 car together and left on Friday morning. We decided to break our drive in two separate days, so our first leg was 8 hours to New Orleans. I was really excited about seeing Bourbon Street because I've never been to NOLA.

We made a few stops on the way there. Breakfast...restroom...Louisiana border sign...restroom...lunch...restroom...

Nate getting creative with the duck tape!
I wanted to document the entire roadtrip, and that meant a family photo session at lunch...which happened to be at Sonic. The fam wasn't as thrilled as I for the photo shoot at this fancy food place :)

No, Chance is not using the restroom. As soon as he realized I was taking his photo, he swung around and I only got his back.
You can't tell, but they are super excited about taking a picture!

Back on the road...and into New Orleans!

First stop, check into the hotel.

 View from the room:

Next stop, dinner in Jackson Square:

Dinner @ Muriel's. Thanks for making the reservation mom, the food was phenomenal!

Next stop after dinner, Bourbon Street!

First stop on Bourbon, Pat O'Briens...yummy hurricanes!

And of course we had to pop into a VooDoo store while in NOLA!

Moving forward, Bourbon Street here we come!

 Mosaic glass bar, really cool!

 Yes, I got beads...No, I didn't earn them!

Last stop in NOLA, Harrah's Casino. Big money, big money!!
So serious when gambling. I promise I'm having a good time!

We were ready to go, but Chance wanted to sit down at one more slot, he said he was feeling lucky. Well good thing he did, because he pulled one time and the siren's went off and all we heard was "cha ching, cha ching, cha ching" for what felt like ten minutes. It's always fun to win, but when it just keeps going and going and everyone is staring, it's like ok come on just spit all the money out.
So we were able to break even and then some! Woo hoo good job babe. I must be your good luck charm ;)
We won enough money to buy this car when we left, haha NOT!
Walking back to our hotel we saw Betty:

The next morning, we checked out of our hotel and drove over to Cafe du Monde for some beignets. Well apparently everyone else in New Orleans had the same idea. The line was out the door and down the street. There was absolutely NO way we were waiting hours for a pastry, I don't care how good it is. So next time, we will definitely go here earlier in the morning.

The New Orleans Red Dress Run was today. We loved seeing all the guys in dresses!
Last stop in NOLA, a cemetery. Although it wasn't a really nice one, I still wanted to see what these above ground tombs were all about.

Absolutely stunning!

The drive from here to Florida is only about 4 hours, but our next stop was...Bass Pro.
Yes, you heard me right, Bass Pro.
We left too early Friday morning for the guys to shop and they just had to get these new fishing rods, so I found one on the road and we stopped for lunch.
Stacey, Jason and Jax were in one car, while Mandy, Ronnie and the boys were in another. They had left Friday night and drove all the way to Florida. They arrived in Seacrest, while we were eating lunch at Bass Pro in Alabama. It was too early to check into the house, so they went to the beach.
Shortly after, it rained, so they had to run back to the cars.
A few hours later, we arrived in Seacrest and went to the grocery store first, then to the house. When we got out of the car it was so humid. Thankfully it had stopped raining, but it was so sticky. But we didn't care...we were in Florida on vacation!

Saturday, our first day there, we unpacked the groceries and hung out around the house.
We knew we needed to get good sleep because for the next few days we would live at the beach.

Sunday morning, first day on the beach!

My mom and I making a sand turtle. A beach ritual for our family :)

I let Nate borrow my hat ;)
For lunch, we walked over to Rosemary to eat at Cowgirl Kitchen.
Rosemary is so cute, I love it!

Had to get a pic of GiGi by her sign :)
After lunch, we headed back to the beach, spent a few more hours swimming, and then back home to the pool. Every day after the beach we swam around in the pool and played. After the pool, we showered, had dinner and headed over to Seacrest. They had a great lawn area with a live band, and a cute little ice cream/candy store.

Monday: We woke up early, had breakfast and got ready for another full day at the beach.
 The boys hard at work!

 Mandy and Ronnie
 Pops and GiGi
 Uncle Nate and Kyler
 Jax and Jason

Sam and Jana, my brother-in-law Jason's parents.

Just another day in the pool. Ethan getting thrown so high by Chance!

Tuesday: We woke up early, had breakfast and headed over to Seacrest to rent bikes.
We found a fun water area to cool off in!

While riding, I had my phone in a baggie so the next few pictures aren't as clear as I would like for them to be.

 The gang!

We took a nice stroll through Rosemary and Seacrest, then off to the beach!

The guys had to put those rods to work, unfortunately, they didn't catch anything :(

After the beach, and after some pool time, we all headed out to a big seafood dinner.

Seeing the alligators was really cool!
After dinner, the boys really wanted to ride their bikes again, so my mom and I took them out for a night ride.

The next morning, we woke up, had breakfast and had to pack the cars up because it was time to leave. Our trips are always so fun, so they fly by so fast.
Before we left, we found a secluded area on the beach for family photos.

My family is the best! I love them so much and absolutely love traveling and making memories with them.
