I love NYC in July and wanted to share it with my closest girlfriends and knew I wouldn't be able to go next July since we are getting married on July 9th. I decided to have my party really early and I'll have another one in Dallas for my girlfriends who couldn't join once it gets closer to the wedding!
Tuesday night all the girls came over and we packed up
our luggage, ordered dinner and had a few drinks. I also pre-made a breakfast
casserole for the next morning.
Wednesday morning: we all woke up, got ready, ate
breakfast casserole and enjoyed a cold Starbucks. Around 6:30am we left and headed
to the airport. Checked in, got our bags on the plane and went to TGIF for a
mimosas!
Before we knew it, it was time to board and fly to NYC! We arrived at
La Guardia and grabbed our bags. Sam flew in from Houston and took a bus from
one terminal to the one we were in and we all jumped in a limo and headed to
Manhattan!
We made it to The Roosevelt Hotel, checked in, took our
bags upstairs, half of us went to the store to grab a few things while the
other half stayed and decorated the party room!
Once we got back from the store we hung out for a bit and had a drink.
Then we all headed out to Eately. I took the girls down 5th Ave so
they could see the New York Public Library, Empire State Building and finally
our destination, Madison Square Park. We saw the Flatiron building and hung out
all night at Eately. We went upstairs to the rooftop bar and then had dinner in
La Pizza and La Pasta.
You can't tell, but behind me in that building on both sides, it says "LT" and I will soon be going from LS to LT!
Caitlyn met up with her cousin (not pictured), cousins fiancee and good friend Megan!
After dinner we walked back to the hotel but took 7th Ave instead so we could see Times Square at night.
Back at the hotel, and time for bed!
Thursday morning we woke up bright and early. We had breakfast and mimosas in our room. After we were all ready, we hit the streets.
We walked back through Times Square during the day so I could show the girls the difference of day vs night.
I've never seen so many safety pins in my life! His pants were covered in them.
I've never seen so many safety pins in my life! His pants were covered in them.
I took them past Penn Station and we won't downstairs to check it out...but mostly for a bathroom break!
We continued our walk until we hit the High Line, and we walked all the way down to Chelsea Market.
I took them inside Chelsea Market and everyone loved it! Even though it was so hot outside, we had to get the lobster bisque! We bought soup, bread and fresh watermelon water and took it to the stairs on the High Line to eat over the highway.
From here, we walked south through West Village,
My favorite picture from West Village!
While walking we passed The Church of St Luke in the Fields on Hudson and Christopher. We went inside the garden, and it was so quiet, it was as if you weren't even in NYC.
We continued our walk through Tribeca.
We had finally arrived in the financial district. First stop - 9/11 Memorial.
Then over to Trinity Church and Wall Street.
At this point we had been walking all day and we were exhausted. It was time for Happy Hour! Lacey had just made it to the city so she was dropping her bags in the room and catching a cab down to Iron Horse. I had read about this bar online and saw the great reviews, but when we walked up...I was really disappointed. Mycah assured me we would make it fun no matter what. So we went in, and at first I thought it was a tight squeeze inside, but after awhile, it was actually a lot of fun! They have a swing on their bar and Mycah and I got up there to see how high we could go. The owner was there and he brought us Jenga to play, and we all signed a Jenga block. It was a lot of fun! Moral of this story - NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! This was probably one of the most fun things we did on the trip.
While there, the girl bartender came over and we told her it was my bachelorette party and she said we had to get pictures. So she pretended to be dancing, but really we were all just posing for pictures. It was really funny.
While there, Lacey had arrived and we all decided it was time to walk to the Brooklyn Bridge. On our walk, I gave all the girls a little wrapped box, they opened them and inside was a lock for the bridge!
After we finished walking the bridge and getting a great view of downtown Manhattan, Sam and Caitlyn jumped in a cab and went to buy donuts for the next morning. Sam had been following this donut place on Instagram and wanted to try it before leaving. The rest of us took the Subway back to the hotel.
Sam and Caitlyns donut adventure!
Here is a picture that was taken, and I think it's just so cute!
Stacey and I are sisters, Lacey and Mycah are sisters.
Stacey and Lacey are the same age and best friends.
Mycah and I are the same age and best friends.
Stacey and Lacey went off to college together.
Mycah and I went off to college together.
Mycah and I have been friends for 28 years!
Stacey and Lacey have been friends even longer!
This is what true friendship looks like...we are all sisters :)
Once we got back to the hotel room, we all showered and freshened up for the night.
Tonight was the "Guess Who" game where everyone brings a pair of undies that represent their own personality and I have to guess who brought which pair. I was almost 100%, but I got 3 wrong. I was given one more chance and I figured out who brought which pair out of those 3 girls!
This was also my lingerie shower night...or more like comfy pj shower, so I opened all of those gifts as well, and I loved all of it!
Mycah ran into the room before me and got the "Guess Who" game ready for me.
Then we headed out for a fun night of tacos and rooftop bar views....or so we thought. Apparently Salvation Taco closes super early and when we arrived their kitchen was shutting down. So we left there and went around the corner to Peter Dillons Pub. They weren't serving any food, but they allowed us to have hamburgers delivered. So we ate, drank and danced all night!
Friday morning, we woke up and started the morning with breakfast and more mimosas!
After hanging out for a bit, we took the subway down to Little Italy. We literally ate our way through Little Italy!
First stop - pizza
Then some souvenir shopping:
Then a stop for drinks and a snack (calamari and cheese sticks):
Then over to Chinatown to show the girls:
While walking through Chinatown, we thought it would be a great idea to get a massage!
So we went into one place, that was hot and kind of sketchy...
So we left there and found another that we felt a lot more safe at!
Mandy, Stacey and I did got a foot rub. Mycah and Lacey got a back rub. Sam and Ashley didn't want to do it, so continued walking around. Caitlyn wasn't with us because she was sick at the hotel :(
Ahh...it was amazing! It was $8 for $10 and incredible!
After this, we decided to head back to Little Italy for dessert.
From here, we jumped back in the Subway and headed down South. We walked through the Financial District until we reached Battery Park.
Not sure if you can tell or not, but the statue of liberty is at the very back and a sailboat was going by.
We jumped back on the Subway and went back to Little Italy for dinner.
We loved that the sign changed colors!
On our way back to the Subway we saw a bunch of trailers so Lacey and I walked up the street to figure out which movie was filming. We ran into someone and they said it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we were so excited to find out and while walking back to the girls, who were lame and didn't want to walk to see all the trailers with us, they called us and said it was TMNT. We were bummed that we walked all that way to find out, so we told them we saw Megan Fox! They couldn't believe it, but then we told them we were just kidding. She was on set though...from what we found out!
Once we arrived back at Grand Central, we didn't exit to the street, we into Grand Central Terminal so the girls could check it out. We also ran into Mycah's friend that she met the night before at Peter Dillon's Pub. I showed the girls the whispering arches and that was a lot of fun!
Once back at the hotel, we all put our dresses on. This was the one night we were going to dress up. The plan was to go to Webster Hall, but we were so exhausted from walking all day and didn't feel like taking the Subway anymore, so we decided we would just hang out on our hotels rooftop lounge. Thought this was a great idea, since we didn't get to do the rooftop lounge on top of Salvation Taco the night before. So we got ready...headed down to the Lobby where the entrance to the bar is...and they were closing in 5 minutes and wouldn't let us get on the elevator to go up! Turns out they closed at 10pm. We were so bummed!
Instead, we found a little Irish pub down the street that we had passed a few times.
We are really good dancers...in case you couldn't tell!
Turns out this placed closed at 11pm and we weren't ready to stop hanging out for the night. So we went back to the hotel, put on some comfier clothes, took the heels off and headed down to Joshua Tree and partied the night away there.
Saturday morning we started with breakfast and mimosas. Once we were all ready, we started walking up 5th Ave so the girls could see Rockefeller Center, St Patricks Cathedral and the Upper East Side. Then we headed into Central Park. Sam, Caitlyn, Mycah and Myself walked all the way to Bethesda's Fountain, while the other ladies hung out at the Carousel.
We headed back over to the Plaza and went underground for lunch. After lunch we headed back to our hotel, grabbed our bags (well not all of us, they lost Mycah's bag but then finally found it!), jumped in our limo and headed back to the airport to fly home.
I had such a fun time with these girls and I'm so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you! I love yall so much and it really meant the world to me to know that you girls would fly half way across the country just to celebrate my engagement. Cheers to many more girls trips! ;)
