Destination: Punta Cana, DR
For graduation my parents gave me a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! Chance and I went for 6 days and had so much fun.
Friday morning we woke up very early and were in a taxi by 5:20am heading to the airport.
Our flight left at 7:10am and I slept the entire first plane ride to Charlotte and almost the entire time from Charlotte to Punta Cana.
After a short layover we were back in the plane going from Charlotte to Punta Cana...Chance got some shut eye on this flight.
Once we got to our resort we checked in, went to our room and got settled in and then walked around. Chance picked a flower for me every day! What a sweetie :)
Peacocks were everywhere
Our first sunset!
Saturday morning we were woken up by a rooster!
After breakfast we went to the beach
The sand was as white as could be, and not hot like most white sands, it was still very cool and the water was crystal clear!
After a few hours at the beach we headed back to the resort and had lunch and then went to the pool.
This pool is near our room!
After the pool, we headed back to the room and got ready for dinner.
I took this pic for you mom!
After dinner every night we attended the nightly entertainment in the teatro
The shows were great!
The guys dressed up like women
We wanted to take pics with them after the show so they totally let us!
This is the only pic we have from the Disco Fantasy and its blurry :(
While we were there, there was a full moon so it lit up the beach really well. We took walks on the beach every night!
After our walk we went back to the room and put our bathing suits on to take a dip in the pool. It didn't last long though because apparently you aren't allowed to swim at night, so needless to say we were asked to leave...and all in Spanish, so it took us a while to figure out what we were being told to do
Sunday morning we woke up extra early to change rooms since the one we were in was pretty far from everything and extra far from the beach. It was more like a duplex with your own front yard and only one story so it was nice and quiet! After we made plans to change rooms and made dinner reservations we headed back to the room and saw these two guys playing around in our front yard. Chance tried to get a tail feather from one but it freaked out and cawed really loud and the other one didn't like it!
We were really excited to change rooms and to be closer to the beach!

While walking around the resort we saw this beautiful tree that blooms red flowers
This night we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Jalisco's.
Nightly beach walk!
After this we went to the show but I didn't take any pics :(
Monday morning we woke up bright and early to go fishing!
We took a ride about 10 minutes away from our resort. On the way there I started feeling car sick and was scared about the boat ride since I get motion sickness and wasn't able to buy any Dramamine since this was a last minute excursion and the pharmacy was closed.
I started feeling really sick while taking pics of Chance fishing and had to get sick overboard. He was really sweet about it though, he put ice on my neck and gave me water.
After getting sick I jumped in the seat and reeled in the second biggest male mahi-mahi!
I tried to be a good sport for Chance since he loves fishing more than anything.
This was a cute little floating cabana relaxing area. It looked so nice!
Male
Female
Michelle and Cindy from Boston, Chance, me and Stacey from Wisconsin. Chance liked fishing with all women because we would get tired from reeling so much (about 10-20 minutes of constant reeling) so he was able to be a part of all the reeling in.
After we got back to land and on our ride back to the resort I took these pictures.
When we got back to our room the maids had put these pretty flowers in our room
Before dinner we took a dip in the ocean and used our goggles to snorkel
Another beautiful sunset!
Going to dinner
Such great entertainment
Unfortunately, this night I got very sick from eating fruit that was washed with the water.
So the next day started a little later than we had wanted. I was stuck in bed and Chance had gone down to the pharmacy to get some medicine for me and on the way saw a monkey...the only thing I had been looking forward to seeing the whole trip! The guy was letting people hold the monkey and take a pic. When he came back to the room and told me I was so sad and mad I missed it. Darn sickness! When I was finally able to get up we went to lunch and walked around, did some souvenir shopping and just had a calm day walking around the resort taking pictures
We had heard that DR was an American destination place but when we got there we noticed that it is actually a European destination place. Everyone was very....free. Most didn't wear bathing suits!
Next to our resort was this cute shopping center!
Everyone is trying to get you to come in and buy stuff, we had to say no about 100 times!
After doing some souvenir shopping we needed to take a break at this cute bar and drink the DR beer. PRESIDENTE!
These are a few pics of the resort grounds:
More flowers that Chance picked for me!

After our nightly walk on the beach we went to the show.
Chance wanted to partake in the activities so we signed up for the couples competition!
There were 4 couples competing for the "IFA Villas Bavaro Ideal Couple 2012"
I was extremely nervous and he wasn't at all...not sure how he stayed so calm. There were about 200 people just staring at us!
The first thing he had to do was sing a romantic song to me while I sat in a chair on the other side of the stage. He sang Usher "Nice and Slow". Usher is very popular over there and everyone loved it and was cheering for him! If I had to sing a song...we would have lost. Sorry babe but I'm not singing in front of all those people.
The second thing he had to do was push ups with me laying on his back. He had to say "Soy macho" (I'm strong) every time he came up and I had to reply with "Si, papi, si!" (Yes, daddy, yes!). He did 19 push ups! The other guys did 9, 13 and 20. The guy that did 20 cheated though, he did girly push ups on his knee after about 15.
The third and last thing to do was kama sutra positions with balloons. He was on one side of the stage and I was on the other. I was handed a balloon and we had to run towards each other to pop the balloon on our stomach. I had to run back to grab another balloon while he went back to his side to sit in a chair. I ran over there and had to jump on him and pop the balloon between us. Then I had to bend over the chair while he ran over, grabbed a balloon and came back and popped it on my back side. Then he ran over to lay on a lounge chair while I ran to grab a balloon and then had to jump on him and pop the balloon between us!
The crowd cheered for each couple and couple #1 and #2 were out of the contest. It was now between Chance and I and couple #3 from Chile. The crowd was yelling so loud and Chance was whistling in the judge's ear from behind so he couldn't tell who was winning. He asked the crowd to come on stage and stand behind the couple they thought should win and SO many people stood behind us! Chance and I even ran into the crowd and gathered people to join us! The judge had declared Chance and I as the WINNER! We won a bottle of rum, a certificate and a painting!
This bug was on the wall every night and Chance tried killing it but it never died!
After the show we went down to have a midnight snack and ran into Andy, one of our favorite waiters from the trip. He didn't speak english very well, so we spoke to him in spanish!
Wednesday morning we had to wake up and leave. We were so sad to leave. The trip flew by!
