Fair Day 2012 with the Family

This beautiful Sunday my family met up at the State Fair of Texas. Now if you have never been to the State Fair of Texas you are missing out! It's a really big deal! It's the only State Fair in the country to include a full blown auto show, there is the Cotton Bowl where the Red River Rivalry goes down between Texas and Oklahoma...this year Oklahoma won :( But anway, back to the greatness of the fair, it showcases "Birds of the World", has a gondola ride over the entire thing, a 212 foot ferris wheel (the largest in the North America), and a 52 foot tall Big Tex who unfortunately burned down a few days later, one day after his 60th birthday. We are just glad we got our family picture the day we did! Everything will be ok though because next year Big Tex will be back bigger and better than ever!

Here at the fair there are a TON of animal shows, including horse, dog, pig, bird and cows....the list could go on forever. There is also a petting zoo. Pictures from the day are scrambled throughout.

Chance and I on the biggest ride there at the fair. Stratosphere- 200 foot tall swing ride. Days later this very ride would get stuck up in the air almost at the top for over 2 hours because of lost power. I'd say we all went on the right weekend because we got to see Big Tex and rode the ride successfully!
