Matagorda Bay for 4th of July!

Monday afternoon we made the 5.5 hour drive to Matagorda Bay (south of Galveston on the Gulf) with some friends for Fourth of July! These are the 2 couple we were with. The first night we were there we went down to the beach and played in the sand.

Tuesday we all went down to the beach and had so much fun! The boys played on boogie boards. We also all tried to skim board....very hard!

The girls!

Later that night we all went down the street to eat at Peachey's dad's friends house!
We took the boat there!

Ryan, Mitchell (who got in town earlier that day), and Chance

The next day, Fourth of July, we had planned to go offshore fishing but the weather wasn't all that great so we cruised around in the boat instead.

Preggers Kitty! We fed her the guys bait (shrimp)..shh don't tell the guys!

Next door to the house is a cute little restaurant and they put all their scraps on the back patio. Later in the day, people take those scraps across the channel and feed the hogs that are on this island.

After riding around for a little bit, and taking a dip in the ocean. Peachey's dad ran into a guy he knows who happens to have an airboat. It belongs to his brother and he has only driven it once....we did not know this until we were already on the boat. We were scared to death to say the least.

While riding the boat (in the swampy area) we came off the grass and the water was a little low so we hit the water really hard and I flew off the seat. I fell into the boat (thank goodness) but hurt my leg and back really bad on the ice chest.

The guys were really excited to go. While they were out they got stuck and both jumped out of the boat to turn it around. They were kind of freaked out about it because they were in the swamp area and were knee deep, and this area is where you can see some of the alligators.

After riding around for awhile they hit a bump as well. Peachey wasn't as lucky as me, he actually flew out of the boat and landed on a grassy muddy area.

After having enough fun on the airboat, we headed back to the beach house to get cleaned up. Taylor, Ryan, Mitchell, Chance and I went next door to the restaurant to check it out. We ordered a few appetizers and the guys played pool. After this we went back to the house to keep fishing off the deck (which is where we had been fishing the entire trip). A few hours later we went down the way to another friend's house for dinner. It was very yummy! After that we all went to the firework stand and bought a few fireworks!

We had such a great Fourth of July! Thanks so much for inviting us down there Peachey, we hope to be able to go again! As much fun as we had, I was still sad to miss my sister, Stacey's, birthday on July 3rd and 4th of July with my family
