London, England

My mom went to London for a couple days for business. While she was there she was able to go sightseeing to a bunch of different places. Pics are below. ENJOY!

Her and her coworkers stayed in what they call a "flat."

In London they don't have Dr. Pepper so finally at the end of the week she caved and had to buy a Coke

Here are a few pictures of the places she got to go to:

Chinatown
Located in the SoHo area of the City of Westminster, occupying the area in and around Gerrard Street. It contains a number of Chinese Restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and other Chinese-run businesses.

Buckingham Palace
The official London residence of the British monarch. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is a setting for state occasions and royal hospitality.

The Palace measures 828,818 square feet. 775 rooms-19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. 1,514 doors and 760 windows in Buckingham Palace which are cleaned every 6 weeks. There are more than 350 clocks and watches in the Palace.

Buckingham Palace has its own chapel, post office, swimming pool, staff cafeteria, doctor's surgery and cinema.

More than 50,000 people visit the Palace each year as The Queen's guests at banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions and garden parties.
The Victoria Memorial was created in 1911

The Queen's Guard and Queen's Life Guard

There are both Horse Guards and Foot Guards
Horse Guards is the official main entrance to both St. James's Palace and Buckingham Palace. The Guard is on horseback from 10am until 4pm, with the two sentries changing every hour. From 4pm until 8pm a pair of dismounted sentries remain. At 8pm, the gates of Horse Guards are locked, and a single sentry remains until 7am.

The changing of the Guard takes place in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace at around 11am.
The Royal Parks of London are land originally owned by the monarchy of England or the UK or recreation (mostly hunting) for the royal family. The public does not have any legal right to use the Parks.
St. James's Park in Westminster, central London, the oldest of the Royal Parks of London. It lies at the southernmost tip of the St. James's area.

The park has a small lake, with two islands.

These are a few neat doors and clocks around town.

County Hall
Located in County Hall area is the London Eye, London Film Museum, The Dali Universe, The Zen Cafe, The Marriott Hotel, Premier Inn Hotel and the Sea Life Aquarium.

The London Eye
The largest Ferris wheel in Europe and has become the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK, visited by over 3 million people in one year.

Outside the Eye there is a little park where there are some street performers.
Candy floss= Cotton candy

Elaine Davidson of Edinburgh, Scotland, had a record breaking total of 720 piercings. She has 192 on her facial area alone.

One of the hotels near County Hall.

Drummonds is an English private banking house founded in 1771. The bank once held accounts for King George III and other members of the royal family including the Queen Mother.
Here are a few pictures of pretty houses:

Parliament examines what the Government is doing, makes new laws, hold the power to set taxes and debates the issues of the day.

Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. It is the largest four-faced chiming clock and the 3rd tallest free-standing clock tower in the world.

While she was in London she was able to go see the play "The Little Dog Laughed."
A screen idol hiding in the closet, an ambitious male prostitute and his naïve girlfriend, and a brash, driven Hollywood agent who can spin anyone and anything. Maybe.

Some neat restaurants and pubs:

There are Starbucks in London, but this place is on every corner and is their main coffee place.

She took some neat pictures:

These are some random pictures.
The grounds are really cool, they are pebbles and bricks.

A shipment of kegs
A neat tunnel.

A protest that was going on while she was there

Tower of London
Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress, is a historic fortress and scheduled monument in central London.

My mom at the Tower of London :)

Trafalgar Square is a square in central London, England. At it's center is Nelson's Column, which is guarded by four lion statues at its base.

In London they have these painted on the ground because they drive on the left side of the road so tourist don't forget to look a certain direction.
